Due to our youthscape renovation we met in the lower level of the old building. cozy, but lots of fun. great discussion about the evil one and his impact on our lives. for the jr. hi. it was about understanding where he came from and that his power is limited. for sr. hi. it was a great conversation/dialogue about living in a world that is in need of Hope. made an excellent opportunity to walk back through the vision teaching from big church. it was really encouraging to hear the students offer their thoughts about how to accomplish the impact 2008 agenda. i really enjoyed the close proximity of the teaching time. the acoustic worship followed by an open a free conversation was simply good. probably one of the best nights of real community we've had. the packed space for both groups helps to support the work being just a floor above.

girls of grace

today we're playing host to the young women in our outpost and others from the community as a host site for the girls of grace simulcast. we began the day with hannah, samantha and emily...the "prettier" part of veneration, our youth praise band. good stuff. they just took a break and said the first session was "excellent."

second session was great and so was lunch. the girls rocked to stellar kart chris wheeler asked the girls to follow his family's journey by visiting this blog.
the day ended well. lots of good and encouraging things.

impressive looking group of women is n't it?

so the plan was to finally have a our own "beacon of gondor" out at the edmondson estate. and the plan was to roast some hotdogs after letting the real life hotdogs do their thing on the snow covered hills. a little hard to do after the weather warmed up to 49 degrees and then torrential downpours melt what was left of the white stuff away. so with the strength and advice of some great counselors we moved the afternoon back to the outpost and had a sort of "big game bash redux". chefs rod and tom put their culinary talents to work and we feasted on tube steaks...aka ...hotdogs. we did that in the middle of watching facing the giants. a great flick. and it was fun to watch it on three big screens with our incredbile sound system. could have used some more comfortable seats...but a lot of fun for all.

weekend wrap-up 02.03.08

big game bash '08
take 450 hot dogs + 100 burgers + 80 bags of snacks + 30 dozen cookies/brownies + Rod's wings and surround it with 4 xbox 360s + 1 Wii + 2 ps 2s = big game bash the.evolution style fun yep...a crazy day. lots of fun. of course another attendance breaker. our total count for the nite was 250. i couldn't separate all the adults from the kids...they were all having too much fun. dozens of hotdogs...dozens of bags of chips...lots of soda and pop. guitar hero, dance dance revolution - disney style, Wii and of course 4 vs 4 halo 3... made it just fun. adam and the band (aka veneration) kicked things up a notch at the start. krista matteson won the ipod nano. she seems pretty amazed in the photo. i love it when parents are willing to step it up and show the can have some real fun too...even though their kids say its embarassing ...one mom, amy wilson (blue belt) decided to live it large and put on the sumo suit and tackle jace wolford.
during halftime we watched a great video about nfl 2007 mvp ladanian tomlison and kevin haggerty shared the invitation to join God's Story. it was very cool to see some 20 plus hands go up. and to top it off jackie selby and sandie stanton faced it off to wrap up a grand evening indeed ( see video below!)

thanks to all the folks that made this happen. new hope is such an amazing place.
